xine is a fully-featured free audio/video player for unix-like systems which uses libxine for audio/video decoding and playback. For more informations on what formats are supported, please refer to the libxine documentation.
This is a GTK+ based GUI for the libxine video player library. It provides gxine, a media player that can play all the audio/video formats that libxine supports. Currently, this includes MPEG1/2, some AVI and Quicktime files, some network streaming methods and disc based media (VCD, SVCD, DVD). A more complete list can be found on http://xinehq.de/ Most DVDs on the market today are play-protected by the Content Scrambling System (CSS). libxine does not provide any code to descramble those DVDs, because of legal uncertainties. If you still want to play those DVDs, you'll need a CSS decryption library like libdvdcss that is supported by libxine.

Internet DJ console is a free software application for people wanting to make radio shows on the internet. Internet DJ Console is a program that I started writing in March of 2005 after discovering the lack of DJ software on linux that suited me. The programs that I did find were either feature poor, full of bugs, suited more towards the live side of things, or sadly did not even compile. It dawned on me that something needed to be done and that having some coding skills of my own that I may as well have a go myself. The basics of the different components in the project and how they would fit together came to me almost in a flash, and after pondering the sketch I drew, a few days later I started coding. The result is Internet DJ Console. I hope you like it, and if you want to make any suggestions for features or have a gripe or bug report, you can send me an email. What formats are available? Internet DJ console supports live streaming in Ogg or MP3 formats to Shoutcast and Icecast servers. It also has a record facility that does both Ogg and MP3. Multiple bitrates are supported. What are it's main features? Two main media players. A jingles/interlude player (interlude fills the background with music when you are not playing anything). A basic crossfader. A stream shut-off timer (just in case you forget). DJ Alarm (an alarm tone to alert you when the music is about to stop). Mute buttons that enable you to preview the songs you might want to play without affecting the stream/recording. The aux input facilitates the connection of other JACK audio applications to IDJC. IDJC outputs two audio streams. The second that appears on the rear speaker terminals of the soundcard is intended for the listeners and can be used for a truly live show. A VOIP feature allows the taking of calls on and off-air (telephone icons). IDJC can announce the tracks you are playing to IRC (internet relay chat) using the X-Chat plugin (supplied). Author: Stephen Fairchild

Aqualung is a music player for the GNU/Linux operating system. It plays audio files from your filesystem and has the feature of inserting no gaps between adjacent tracks. It also supports high quality sample rate conversion between the file and the output device, when necessary. Almost all sample-based, uncompressed formats (eg. WAV, AIFF, AU etc.) are supported. Files encoded with FLAC (the Free Lossless Audio Codec), Ogg Vorbis, MPEG Audio (including the infamous MP3 format) and MOD files (MOD, S3M, XM, IT, etc.) are also supported. The program can play the music through OSS, ALSA or the JACK Audio Connection Kit. Aqualung supports the LADSPA 1.1 plugin standard. You can use any suitable plugin to enhance the music you are listening to. Other features of the program: internally working volume and balance controls (not touching the soundcard mixer), multiple skin support, random seeking during playback, track repeat, list repeat and shuffle mode (besides normal playback). It will come up in the same state as it was when you closed it, including playback modes, volume & balance settings, currently processing LADSPA plugins, window sizes, positions & visibility, and other miscellaneous options. You can control any running instance of the program remotely from the command line (start, stop, pause etc.). Remote loading or enqueueing soundfiles as well as complete playlists is also supported. In addition to all this, Aqualung provides a so-called Music Store that is an XML-based music database, capable of storing various metadata about music on your computer (including, but not limited to, the names of artists, and the titles of records and tracks). You can (and should) organize your music into a tree of Artists/Records/Tracks, thereby making life easier than with the all-in-one Winamp/XMMS playlist. Author: Tom Szilagyi

xjadeo is a very simple video player that gets sync from jack. When a sequencer like Muse or Rosegarden acts as a timebase master, xjadeo will display the video frame in sync with the sequencer transport. This means that you can visually synchronize an audio event with a certain frame in the movie, which comes quite handy when you want to create a soundtrack for a video clip. Heroine Virtual Ltd. presents an advanced content creation system for Linux. Cinelerra takes what normally is a boring server - studied in computer science classrooms, hidden in back offices - and turns it into a 50,000 watt flamethrower of multimedia editing. That's right kids. Unlike most of the Linux solutions out there, Cinelerra requires no emulation of proprietary operating systems, no commercial add-ons, no banner advertizements, no corporate dependencies, no terrorists, just a boring old Linux box. Cinelerra does primarily 3 main things: capturing, compositing, and editing audio and video with sample level accuracy. It's a seamless integration of audio, video, and still photos rarely experienced on a web server. If you want to make movies, you just want to defy the establishment, you want the same kind of compositing and editing suite that the big boys use, on the world's most efficient UNIX operating system, it's time for Cinelerra. The version you'll find in this package is the cinelerra.org community version.

The buzztard project aims to provide a free replacement (or clone) of the currently windows only and closed source software Buzz. The buzz software is not really further developed, as the main developer has lost his source code. We want to provide a music production environment, that is based on a very modular approach (following some of the ideas behind buzz), to allow many people to get involved. We hope that our software will have a better usabillity than buzz has although. We don't want to make this a 1:1 copy though. The buzztard project itself has no direct link to buzz (apart from concepts). To allow migration for buzz users, we will provide song-file import and buzz-machine reuse.

GPAC is a multimedia framework for MPEG-4, VRML/X3D and SVG/SMIL. GPAC is built upon an implementation of the MPEG-4 Systems standard (ISO/IEC 14496-1) developed from scratch in C. The main development goal is to provide a clean (a.k.a. readable by as many people as possible), small and flexible alternative to the MPEG-4 Systems reference software (known as IM1 and distributed in ISO/IEC 14496-5). The second development goal is to achieve integration of recent multimedia standards (SVG/SMIL, VRML, X3D, SWF, etc) into a single framework. This stage is still under drafting but GPAC already supports most of VRML97, some X3D as well as very simple SVG. GPAC already features 2D and 3D multimedia playback, MPEG-4 Systems encoders/multiplexers and publishing tools for content distribution. GPAC is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License. The current GPAC release (0.4.5) already covers a very large part of the MPEG-4 standard, and features what can probably be seen as the most advanced and robust 2D MPEG-4 Player available worldwide, as well as a decent 3D MPEG-4/VRML player. Cairo-dock was in the beginning a small simple but effective dock. On 4th July 2007, Fabounet proposes to us a version improved, with a very ergonomic configuration, on the ubuntu-fr.org forum. Since, new versions are followed at an intensive pace and with their new functionalities like the sub-docks, the effects on the launchers ... Many people are grafted with the project, each one bringing its competences, of graphics, to the applet or plugins and development.
That package provides plugins for cairo-dock
The Farsight project is an effort to create a framework to deal with all known audio/video conferencing protocols. On one side it offers a generic API that makes it possible to write plugins for different streaming protocols, on the other side it offers an API for clients to use those plugins.
Pure is a functional programming language based on term rewriting. It has a modern syntax featuring curried function applications, lexical closures and equational definitions with pattern matching, and thus is somewhat similar to languages of the Haskell and ML variety. But Pure is also a very dynamic and reflective language, and is more like Lisp in this respect. The interpreter has an LLVM backend to do JIT compilation, hence programs run blazingly fast and interfacing to C modules is easy. Author: Albert Graef

This module provides an interface to libffi which enables you to call C functions from Pure and vice versa. It goes beyond Pure's built-in C interface in that it also handles C structs and makes Pure functions callable from C. Moreover, depending on the libffi implementation, it may also be possible to call foreign languages other than C. Author: Albert Graef
pure-gsl - GNU Scientific Library interface for Pure. Building on Pure's GSL matrix support, this module aims to provide a complete wrapper for the GNU Scientific Library which provides a wide range of mathematical routines useful for scientific programming, number crunching and signal processing applications. PURE-CSV - Comma Separated Value interface for the Pure programming language. The CSV library provides an interface to read and write comma separated value files. The reading and writing functions are loosely based on Python's CSV module (http://docs.python.org/lib/module-csv.html) Author: Eddie Rucker
pd-pure: Pd loader for Pure scripts. This plugin lets you write external Pd control objects in Pure. Pure is a functional programming language based on the term rewriting calculus, see http://pure-lang.googlecode.com. This is still an experimental version, please report bugs to the author. In particular, note that the embedded Pure interpreter uses the same kind of JIT compiler as the command line version, which may cause annoying delays during startup, since the Pure functions are compiled by the JIT when they are first used. (However, once all Pure objects have been compiled to native code, they are executed very efficiently.) With the current version of the LLVM JIT used by the Pure interpreter there's no easy way around this, but we hope to fix this issue in a future release. Author: Albert Graef
Pure OpenGL bindings generator. Please see the README file and the examples included in the package for further details. Information about OpenGL can be found at: http://www.opengl.org/
Pure C interface generator. The brandnew C interface generator, heavily based on Scott Dillard's OpenGL interface generator. Just feed it the C headers of your favourite C libraries and it will generate a Pure module with the necessary extern declarations for you. It can also generate an FFI interface if you prefer that, and/or an auxiliary C module which makes it possible to interface to any kind of module that can be called through a C interface.
pure-gtk is a collection of bindings to use the GTK+ GUI toolkit version 2.x with Pure, see http://www.gtk.org. The bindings include the gtk (+gdk), glib, atk, cairo and pango libraries, each in their own Pure module. At present these are just straight 1-1 wrappers of the C libraries, created with pure-gen. So they still lack some convenience, but they are perfectly usable already, and a higher-level API for accessing all the functionality will hopefully become available in time. In fact *you* can help make that happen. So please let me know if you'd like to give a helping hand in improving pure-gtk. Author: Albert Graef
osgGtk is a C widget library that provides support for embedding OpenSceneGraph into Gtk applications. osgGtk provides widgets that can be used to integrate OpenSceneGraph into Gtk+ and Gtkmm applications by providing subclasses of OSG's Viewer and GraphicsWindow with OpenGL contexts from gtkglext's DrawingArea widget.

World Wind SDK for Java. With this SDK, developers can embed World Wind technology in their own applications.
Imagination is a lightweight and simple DVD slide show maker written in C language and built with the GTK+2 toolkit. I noticed a lack on the Linux platform of a user-friendly DVD slide show maker, so I started developing Imagination. True, there are some other GUIs which do the job, but they usually require a lot of dependencies to be installed first. Imagination has been designed from the ground up to be fast, light and easy-to-use. It requires the ffmpeg encoder ONLY to produce the movie file - to be burned to DVD then with another application. Yes you don't need any other third-party software, I like the KISS principle :) Imagination at present features 26 transitions effects developed as plugins loaded at startup. Exporting of the slideshow as FLV format is supported. No sound and Ken Burns effects yet but they are planned in the next release.
